As what the name suggests, an air fryer uses air to cook your food without the use flames or heating instruments. All you need to do is put your food in the container and wait for it to cook. The beauty of it is that you don't need to use oil which makes your food healthier. This kitchen appliance is ideal for those who want to stay healthy without compromising their taste buds. With an air fryer, you can cook fried chicken, fries or any other food the healthiest way possible reducing oil use by as much as 70%.
How Does an Air Fryer Work?
By pumping superheated air into the cooking chamber, air fryers cook food. Once you put your food in and turn it on, a heating coil above the food chamber cooks the food. However, this process is not enough to cook your food. To evenly spread heat in the food chamber, an exhaust fan located above the heating coil, provides the needed airflow to the underside, resulting in a more evenly cooked meal. Using this concept, air fryers blast superheated air repeatedly to your food until it cooks. To reduce pressure buildup inside the air fryer, an exhaust system is also integrated within the appliance to regulate internal pressures and temperature; anything that's not needed is released. This released air is filtered thoroughly, releasing nothing but odorless steam. To regulate internal temperatures, an air fryer has a cooling system that pumps cool air and ensures that the environment near the fryer stays that way. With this mechanism, you can ensure that the only heated parts within the air fryer is the food chamber where you cook your food.
Like a rice cooker, an air fryer has a wide removable tray where you can put your food. In this tray, you can cook a variety of different food such as fries, chicken, and even steaks and hamburgers. Depending on its capacity, a fryer can cook as much as 500g of food. You can also thaw your food using an air fryer, although it would take longer for it to cook. Moreover, you can add as many ingredients as you want as the fryer cooks but you have to do it quickly! Compared to a traditional oven, an air fryer doesn't need to be preheated; all you need to do is pop it in there, turn it on, and wait for it to cook. An air fryer is a convenient appliance, especially if you want to have healthier options in your kitchen.
