The most standard features of a shower are the shower head and shower curtain. If you stay alone it may be difficult to have them installed particularly if you have no prior experience. Here’s how you can install it.
Picking an ideal shower curtain combination for your bathroom is rather easy with the variety of shower curtains, liners, curtain rods, rings, and hook sets. Once you have found the perfect set, it’s time to put it up.
First and foremost, start by hanging the shower curtain rod which is typically in the form of tension or spring, and can be either straight or curved. Depending on the height of your shower stall, you can position it in many heights. The purpose of the tension spring is that it allows the rod to be in place without having it slip with the weight of the shower curtain. To do so, you should start by measuring the length of your shower curtain.
Secondly, attach the rings to the shower curtain. The appropriate length to extend it should be between 1 to 3 inches. It would be better to opt for single rings or double rings that are made out of plastic or metal. If you wish to add roughly half to an inch in extra length it would be better to choose standard single plastic rings. On the other hand, longer curtain rings are able to provide 2 to 3 inches of extra length. If you want to give your shower curtain a different look, you can add on links where one ring is attached to another.
Finally, hang the shower curtain and liner by positioning both of it so that the holes line up from one end to the next. You can simply attach the rings by pushing each one through the individual holes in the shower curtain and liner. It is also possible to change the position of the shower rod and how it rests against the shower walls.
Once in a while, your shower head needs replacement due to slow water flow, low water pressure, or other reasons. However, make sure to properly remove the previous shower head before replacing it. It is also important to turn off the main water supply.
The next step is to prepare the goose-neck threads by cleaning of any old debris. Wrap 9-12 inches of plumber’s tape and wrap around it in a clockwise direction.
After prepping the threads, screw in the new head onto the goose-neck. Check whether does the shower head comes with a rubber washer that must be pre-installed. If there is no rubber washer, simply screw it on the thread manually. Check for leaks by turning the water supply back on. If it is still leaking, you need to tighten the connection with a wrench.
