Apple Watch Series 2 Singapore – Your Comprehensive Fitness Buddy

Since the release of the first Apple Watch in April 2015, Apple found out that its consumers were using it primarily as a device to track their health and fitness levels. The Apple Watch Series 2, also known as the Apple Watch 2, is the successor of one of the most successful smartwatches around. Apple has made significant improvements and added important features to the Apple Watch 2, geared towards fitness-tracking purposes.

Design and Build

The Apple Watch 2 sports the same minimalistic design as the previous version except that it is fractionally thicker. The curved edges, the formed glass gives the device a premium finish. The weight remains relatively light which is quite impressive, considering that the watch is now has improved water-resistance, supports GPS, and has a bigger battery. There are three models of Apple Watch 2 to choose from, the least expensive being an aluminium model, followed by a stainless-steel model, and lastly a ceramic model.

Apart from its design, the screen on the Apple Watch 2 is basically the same as the one on its predecessor. The same 1.65-inch 390 x 312 OLED display is still seen with the only exception being that it is now a square screen with rounded edges. This new design makes it easier for wearers to swipe down, up, left, and right. The screen is also brighter than the previous model, enabling it to be used outdoors without any problems.

Waterproof Capabilities

While the first-gen Apple Watch was water-resistant up to a depth of 1 metre for 30 minutes, the Apple Watch 2 has significantly improved waterproof capability. It is now water-resistant up to 50 meters of depth, which means that you can wear it while swimming. Part of the improved water resistance is thanks to an innovative new feature that shoves out of the speaker cavity when it is back on dry land.

The device also has a new Water Lock feature that prevents the display from being activated unintentionally underwater. The feature can be activated manually by pressing the ‘drop’ icon in Control Centre, but it will turn on automatically when you start a Swimming mode in Workout. Although the screen’s touch functionality is locked, the watch will still track activity as usual.

Performance and Software

The Apple Watch Series 2 sports an S2 dual-core processor that enables the device to perform more smoothly than ever. Apps load faster and switching between one app to another is instantaneous. Another contributor to the improved performance is the watchOS3, the latest version of the Apple Watch operation system. The new OS allows developers to keep their apps in the Apple Watch 2’s memory once they have been opened, hence enabling them to load faster. Open apps remain in the dock and users can decide which to pin there. You can also manage the apps and personalise your Apple Watch 2 on the watch itself as well as via the Watch app downloaded on an iPhone.
