Let’s first take a look at the overall design of the Inspiron 14. If you follow Dell’s journey of laptop production, you would look at the Inspiron 14 as extended or expanded version of Inspiron Mini laptops. With silver as a choice of default color and black plastic to wrap around the edge, the Inspiron is fairly ordinary to look at—adding on to the fact that there is only a single light to indicate the power status of the laptop and no other media buttons or exclusive finishing. However, with a little upgrade cost, you can get it in colors of Cherry Red, Alpine White, Ice Blue, Jade Green, Passion Purple, Promise Pink.
Next, we look at the hardware and performance. The Inspiron 14 comes with a standard laptop keyboard and a touchpad. The 720p variety screen on a 14-inch display is more than enough to make sure you get enough of your entertainment needs and to get your work display in a clear and crisp manner. A word of caution: when purchasing this laptop, make sure you upgrade it to hold the fastest P8600 2.40 GHz Core 2 Duo processor and at least 3GB of RAM or else, demanding tasks like 3D games, heavy graphics editing, watching HD movies/videos, and multitasking the above in synchronization would most certainly slow down the laptop.
For the battery life expectancy, you get to choose from 3 battery options; 4-cell, 6-cell, and 9-cell. It’s a rule of thumb to know that the more cells that you have, the longer the battery can sustain your device, in which here means the Inspiron 14. You will get an accumulated amount of 4 hours of running time on your laptop should you install the 9-cell battery.
Well, the prominent feature of the Inspiron 14 is actually its price. Being both portable and affordable, this one of those laptops you get if you are a student just starting college or if you are a stay-at-home individual and you move around a lot. Though coming is with a 14-inch display with 720p resolution, you can still upgrade it to 920p screen resolution. Furthermore, given the option to upgrade the color of the body from a selective list of shades is added bonus as well.
