LG Stylus 3 – The Modern Inexpensive Note

LG has returned with its Stylus series of smartphones with its new LG Stylus 3 which is a successor to last year's Stylo 2. The company didn't change its fundamentals and it still has a 5.7-inch phablet with an embedded stylus, a detachable battery, and a storage which can be expanded. They say it resembles the Samsung Galaxy Note series range but with a cheaper price tag.

Body and Build

The LG Stylus 3 is built with a similar design to its predecessor, the Stylo 2. It has a plastic back with brushed metal look giving the impression of a premium smartphone. It has curvy sides, corners, and edges which make it look less plain than other mid-ranger handsets. It is also relatively slim at just 7.4mm thickness. It measures 6.1 x 3.1 x 0.3 inches and weighs 5.3 ounces. It comes with a bright 5.7-inches capacitive IPS LCD display with 1280 x 720p resolutions which translates to a pixel density of 258ppi. It has a nice viewing angle and the brightness is good too even it gets a little reflective on outdoors.

The LG Stylus 3 features an 8MP front snapper for selfies. It has a beauty mode and screen flash options which commonly found on every smartphone these days. Its main camera has a 13MP sensor and f/2.2 aperture. It takes decent pictures whether outdoor or indoor but it doesn't perform very well in low light conditions. It features geo-tagging, touch focus, and face detection.

OS and software

The LG Stylus runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with LG customized skin on top which is called UX 5.0+. It comes with the usual apps pre-installed for easy access along with Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, as well as LG's customization.

Memory Specs

The LG Stylus 3 is powered by 1.5GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor and uses Qualcomm's own Adreno 505 GPU. Performance is a kind of better when given multiple tasks.

Storage Specs

The LG Stylus 3 has a 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage expandable up to 256GB via dedicated microSD card slot.

A 3200mAh removable battery powers the LG Stylus 3 and could last to 6 hours and 33 minutes when you're streaming a full-screen video over LTE at an utmost brightness which is a little longer than the Stylo 2 that could last up to 6 hours and 6 minutes. It doesn't support fast charging but you can always replace it with a new battery since it's detachable.

  • Pros: Fingerprint scanner, Smooth interface, Detachable Battery, Faster Processor
  • Cons: Average Screen Resolution, Lacks Fast Charging Feature, Mediocre Battery
