Chinese phone manufacturer OPPO recently launched the OPPO R11 Plus alongside its smaller sibling, the OPPO R11. The two additions to the company's R-series line-up of smartphones are expected to hit the market shelves in China this month. However, it is still not known whether the phones will make its way to other markets outside the country. The OPPO R11 and OPPO R11 Plus have a lot in common albeit they have differences as well. For now, we will be discussing the specifications and features of the model with Plus moniker.
Regarding the specs, the OPPO R11 Plus sports a huge 6-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Under the hood, it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. It packs 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal flash memory which can be expanded up to 256GB via microSD card. On the software front, the handset runs an Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with OPPO's in-house ColorOS 3.1 on top.
Going to the optics, the phone features a dual camera setup at the rear side which is a combination of a 16-megapixel Sony IMX398 sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a 20-megapixel Sony IMX350 sensor with f/2.6 aperture. Either of the two cameras can record 4K video footage. The two sensors work hand in hand to produce images with bokeh effects. Up front, the device has a 20-megapixel selfie snapper with an aperture of f/2.0 and also supports bokeh effect. One of the OPPO R11 Plus' selling point is its massive 4000mAh non-removable battery that supports VOOC fast charging technology.
The OPPO R11 Plus sports a metal unibody, and has a body thickness and weight of 7.8mm and 188g, respectively. It is available in three color variants, namely Black, Gold, and Rose Gold.
At first glance, you can’t deny that the OPPO R11 Plus looks similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. The design choices such as the front layout which is uniquely designed with a slim, smooth, and arched metal exterior all look too familiar.
Dual rear camera
Aside from its design, another striking feature of the smartphone is its dual rear camera. Snap up stunning images even in the most challenging environments with the 20+16-megapixel primary shooter that has features such as Auto Focus, Face Detection, HDR, Panorama Mode, Geo-tagging, Touch Focus, Digital Zoom, and Video Recording. On top of that, it is supported with an LED flash that takes care of low-light conditions. The 20-megapixel front camera is equally spectacular and promises crisp and clear photos when you take selfies or make a video call.
If you love multitasking on your devices, the OPPO R11 Plus is the ideal smartphone for you. Courtesy of the 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor and massive 6GM of RAM, the device is designed to deliver a seamless smartphone experience as well as aid multitasking. Flaunting a big 6-inch Full HD IPS display with a 16:9 cinema-like screen ratio, the OOPO R11 Plus effortlessly makes gaming and watching videos more immersive. Powered by a 2.2 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor and 6GB of RAM, the phone is able to run smoothly even with multiple applications open simultaneously.
Constantly having to make space for your smartphone is a hassle if you love taking photos. The OPPO R11 Plus comes with an internal storage space of 64GB which can be further expanded up to 256GB with a microSD card, which is more than enough to keep large amounts of audio, videos, photos, apps and many more!
Utilising the same sensor as other recent OPPO devices (OPPO A77 and OPPO F3), the OPPO R11 Plus also features an FPC1245 fingerprint sensor from the Swedish biometrics firm Fingerprint Cards. Simply swipe your finger on the backside sensor panel to unlock your phone.
Big capacity battery with quick charge
With the ultra power saving mode, it allows you to keep your phone powered on for longer in between charges. Switching to this mode will change the screen on the OPPO R11 Plus to black and white as well as closes all the unnecessary features to drastically minimize battery consumption. This allows your phone to quickly charge with the VOOC technology and is particularly useful when you’re in a hurry. Also, the 4000 mAh battery is quite powerful and is capable of keeping the smartphone running for approximately 2 days with basic usage.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset with the octa-core processor should fare well on the OPPO R11, but it could have provided more of a robust offering for the Plus. Nonetheless, it features a 6GB RAM to provide sufficient enough boost for performance. It ships with an Android 7.1 Nougat and features OPPO’s ColourOS 3.1 skin.
