Notifications on Your Wrist

The Razer Nabu aims to be an all in one fitness smartband that is useful for not just gamers, but the mass market looking for a wearable device that can go hand in hand with their smartphones. Unlike many other simpler fitness bands out there, the Razer Nabu band has a tiny 128 x 16-pixel OLED display that sits in the middle, giving the user a visual notification of messages, alerts, and menu options; as well as through a gentle vibrating feedback. The display of the Nabu is meant to be worn on the lower side of the wrist, facing down; this is for privacy keeping purposes where others could potentially read your own messages.

Similar to a smartwatch, the Razer Nabu’s OLED display gives users short glimpses of messages and text notifications that are easy to glance at; so it makes it easy for the user to decide whether to respond immediately to an urgent notification or to just reply a less important text later on. The display is also plenty bright to be able to be used in bright sunlight.

More than just Notifications

The Razer Nabu’s display isn’t just for users to get a glance at shortened pieces of information and text from their notifications, but it also serves as a navigation aid for the various functions that are built into the Razer Nabu itself. A single button sits on the top of the Razer Nabu’s display that acts as the sole navigation button for the entire smartband.

Clicking on the navigation button will cycle through the various functions on the Nabu, such as the steps counter, distance tracker, and also remote function for your smartphone. To complete the entire Nabu experience however, the user would have to download the Razer Nabu application on their smartphone.

The stereotype of gamers is that they are always at home and facing their computer; not out and about socializing with people. But we all know that stereotypes don’t always represent a community. Which is why the Razer Nabu has a social feature that lets you exchange contacts and social media accounts with just the shake of another Razer Nabu user! So get out there and stay active.
