Samsung Galaxy A30 Price, Specs, Features and Review Singapore
Samsung Galaxy A30 Review
Pros
- Vivid Super AMOLED display
- Excellent battery life
- Nice, solid build
- User-friendly UI
Cons
- Below-average loudspeaker
- Average processor
- Meagre cameras
Design
Sporting a sleek design with curved edges, Samsung Galaxy A30 has a glossy finish at the back. The body of the phone is made of a blend of plastic and glass, or also known as glasstic. At first glance, the Galaxy A30 is virtually bezel-less except for its chin area. Looking at the bottom, a single loudspeaker, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C Port are present. The speakers, though, deliver a below-average audio quality when playing music on Spotify. But, there are always headphones to aid you in having a good audio experience.
Display
The smartphone boasts a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, 19:5:9 aspect ratio and 403 ppi density, covered by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3. With its Super AMOLED display, the screen displays vibrant colours both indoors and outdoors. Samsung Galaxy A30 also has display settings that allow you to switch to Dark Mode or modify the colour calibration.
Performance
Powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 7904 octa-core processor, as fitted in the Galaxy M20, the Galaxy A30 runs all sorts of apps, tabs, and games quite smoothly, including PUBG and Asphalt 9 on medium settings. In addition, the Galaxy A30 is fitted with 4GB RAM - a decent feature seen in many mid-range smartphones but deemed sufficient to support the operation of multiple tasks at the same time. As for its internal memory, the phone has 64GB of storage that is expandable up to 512GB. The phone also operates on Android 9.0 Pie with One UI 1.1, both of which can receive updates from time to time.
Camera
In the Galaxy A30’s dual-camera department, there’s a 16MP f/1.7 main camera and a 5MP f/2.2 ultra-wide secondary sensor. While the camera specs may not be impressive for a mid-ranger, rest assured the phone’s image quality is still up to par. Photos taken in daylight exhibit clear details and natural colour - as with other Samsung smartphones. Live Focus will be called for use when taking portrait photos. Some other camera features include Exposure Compensation, ISO Control, Continuous Shooting, HDR and a LED Flash.
With the absence of the Night Mode feature, the smartphone camera’s weakness surfaces when capturing photos in low-light conditions wherein it loses the ability to reduce noise and amplify detail. Its front-facing camera is 16MP with f/2.0 aperture, which delivers selfies with great saturation and colours. That being said, its video recording quality is still great with full HD resolution, although it comes without optical image stabilisation.
Battery Life
Samsung Galaxy A30 packs a 4000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support, similar to the Galaxy A50. It takes about half an hour for the phone to refill its battery juice from 0% to 30%. With normal usage, the Galaxy A30 can easily last the entire day with a few extra hours to spare. Playing graphics-intensive games on this phone, though, can drain the battery pretty quickly.
Fingerprint Sensor
You can unlock the Galaxy A30 with the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. An alternative to the fingerprint sensor is the Face Unlock feature which is just as fast but not as secure as fingerprint unlock.
Verdict
In a nutshell, Samsung Galaxy A30 meets the expectations in terms of basic features to have in a mid-range phone. However, it lacks some competitive elements that make it stand out among all mid-range smartphones. If you’re in for a budget phone with no concerns for photography quality, Samsung Galaxy A30 is still worth getting to help you perform all kinds of tasks, thanks to its excellent battery life, amazing display, and great user interface.
