This is the BEST SMARTPHONE according to GSMA at MWC 2017

Although the year 2016 appeared to be an awful year for the brand, they still managed to bring home the Best Smartphone of 2016 award at the MWC.

Mar 2, 2017

Samsung had an undeniably awful 2016 due to the Galaxy Note7 debacle. The exploding battery issue forced them to recall all the Note7 devices sold worldwide, which in turn, cost them their sales and reputation. After that very disappointing year, it might now be appropriate for the tech giant to hear good news.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge was awarded by the GSMA, a trade body that represents all the mobile operators around the world, as the "Best Smartphone of 2016" in the Best Mobile Handsets and Devices category at the annual Global Mobile Awards during the Mobile World Congress 2017.

To recall, the Galaxy S7 edge sports a unique dual-edge display and a Super AMOLED screen with QHD resolution. Camera wise, it features a 12-megapixel sensor with a very wide f/1.7 aperture and a very fast dual-pixel phase detection autofocus. Under the hood, it comes with a Snapdragon 820 chipset accompanied by 4GB RAM and an internal storage of up to 128GB. The entirety of the device is fueled by a quite huge 3600mAh battery. Evidently, the device was recognized because of its refined design, advanced camera, and outstanding performance.

However, it is expected that some folks are not in line with the decision of the board. Whatever their reason is, one thing is for sure; Samsung is very happy with the new award that it received. That joy is expressed in the statement given by Junho Park, the Vice-President of Global Product Strategy, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, "We are honored to be recognized for our craftsmanship in design and innovation with the Galaxy S7 edge. This award is a testament to our constant pursuit of excellence as we continue to exceed consumers' expectations through revolutionary mobile technology."
