The Sony Xperia E is a very tiny smartphone, especially when you compare it to the large phablet smartphones that are taking the world by storm these days. Just how small is it, then? The display of the Sony Xperia E measures at just a tiny 3.5 inches diagonally for its display!
The little Xperia E is only 113.5 mm tall and weighs just 115 grams, making it very small and pocketable; easily sliding into bag pouches and pockets without taking up a load of space. Also,, like many other Xperia smartphones, the Xperia E shares very similar design points as other Xperia smartphone – creating a very uniformed look across all of the other devices. This can be seen in the very subtle curve on the rear battery cover (which was a common feature among these older Xperia smartphones). The rear cover also has a matte rubberized textured finish that gives a better grip to the smartphone when handling it.
The Xperia E also has very intuitive and ergonomically placed buttons and controls. Along the right side of the smartphone you will find the (from top to bottom) volume up and volume down buttons, the power button, and a dedicated camera button.
The Xperia E runs on Google's Android operating system, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which is optimized to run on devices with slightly slower speciifcations. What makes the Xperia E different from other Android devices is the use of a Sony's very own user interface over the top of the smartphone.
The Sony user interface looks incredibly clean and smart, and also gives the user a way to personalized the smartphone by choosing form the various themes that are found – though they are basically color themes instead of anything really specific. The interface comes with several useful features such as Overview mode which lets you see all active widgets on the smartphone in a single page; and also useful Sony widgets that give you all of the information you need at a glance.
Sony's Walkman app in the Sony Xperia E allows users to play a variety of audio formats, so no more converting audio files and the like. The smartphone is able to output very good quality audio when you plug in a good pair of headphones as well. You can rest assured that your music needs are covered.
