Xiaomi Redmi 5A Price, Review, and Specs in Singapore

Xiaomi Redmi 5A Singapore: A Feature-Packed Budget Smartphone

The Redmi 5A is Xiaomi's successor to one of its best-selling handsets, the Redmi 4A, which comes with stunning features. With its major upgrades, the Redmi 5A is definitely a revision of the Redmi 4A. Although some of its specifications will remind you of the 4A, it is still a remarkable phone due to its affordable price. Here's a rundown of its specifications and features.

Solid Design

The Redmi 5A sports a unibody design layered with a metallic finish on top, while its back features a high-quality plastic exterior. Although it looks like other Xiaomi Redmi handsets, it appears to be smaller with metallic sides that packed firmly. With that, the Redmi 5A feels sturdy to hold, at the same time it is satisfactory in terms of weight, only weighing 137 grams with a dimension of 140.4x70.1x8.4 mm. This makes the device easy to hold in one hand.

Like its previous iteration, the Redmi 4A, the Redmi 5A is equipped with a front sensor, ambient light sensor, and an earpiece on top of its display. Below the display, you can find the capacitive navigation keys. On the right, you can see the power/lock key together with the volume rocker. On the left side, you can find two trays for dual SIM cards and microSD card.

Stunning Display

The Redmi 5A is equipped with a 5-inch HD IPS LCD display with 720x1280 pixel resolution. Its display is similar to the Redmi 4A, although it’s less sharp. Meanwhile, the Redmi 5A’s pixel density offers 296 pixels per inch, meaning you won’t see any issues with pixelation unless you scrutinize the screen very closely. Not to mention, you will see rich and vivid colors which you can even customize using a manual adjustment in the display settings. In addition, it has a night mode so you can read e-books comfortably in darkness, which is a rare feature in this price range.

Decent Camera Performance

In the device’s rear, you can find a 13-MP camera setup with a f/2.2 aperture. Aside from that, there’s also phase detection autofocus and LED flash. What’s more, it can shoot full-HD videos at 30 fps and takes decent selfies and video calls; thanks to its 5-MP front sensor. Speaking of which, this allows you to capture great daylight shots with satisfactory details and well-defined colors.

Smooth Hardware Performance

The Redmi 5A runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor under its hood. Although this is a low-end chipset, the smartphone meets all expectations for performance, as it can handle all barebones tasks such as calling, surfing, texting, and multimedia consumption. Although it doesn’t effectively run graphics intensive games, it doesn’t experience slowdowns or issues with frame drops when playing low-end mobile games. Its 2 GB variant even performs smoothly, as it can load apps quickly and doesn’t experience lags while switching apps.
