Fuji TV Princess Toyotomi (Blu-ray) (Standard Edition) (Japan Version)
S$ 72.10
Bayside Shakedown producer Kameyama Chihiro and Hero director Suzuki Masayuki produce another blockbuster with Princess Toyotomi, a modern conspiracy mystery based on a popular novel by Makime Manabu (Battle League Harumo). Ayase Haruka (Hotaru no Hikari), Tsutsumi Shinichi (SP) and Okada Masaki (Villain) star as three elite investigators from the government's Board of Audit who discover a long-hidden secret in Osaka that may change the future of Japan forever. Filmed with the full support of the Osaka prefectural government, Princess Toyotomi features plenty of Osaka's most famous landscapes and an amazing scene featuring a completely empty city. The mystery at the center of the story has also been so compelling for fans that Princess Toyotomi has been called the Japanese version of Da Vinci Code.

Hajime (Tsutsumi Shinichi), Tadako (Ayase Haruka) and Gainsbourg (Okada Masaki) are elite investigators representing the Japanese government's Board of Audit. During an investigation of a historical heritage firm in Osaka's Katahori district, they discover a shocking secret dating back four centuries ago about the possibility of Osaka being an independent country. The discovery of this and the centuries of cover up by Osaka citizens eventually bring life in the prefecture to a halt, putting all of Japan in a potential crisis.

Fuji TV Liar Game - Saisei (Blu-ray) (Standard Edition) (Japan Version)
S$ 72.10
It's once more into the fray for Matsuda Shota, who returns to the Liar Game without co-star Toda Erika for the first time in Liar Game - Reborn, the second film based on Kaitani Shinobu's popular manga. Resetting the game two years after the end of The Final Stage, the creators have set up a new Liar Game with new rules and the same consequences: a big payday for the winner, and a mountain of debt for the 19 other losers. This time, Matsuda's master schemer character Akiyama is joined by Shinomiya (played by Tabe Mikako, Kimi ni Todoke), who needs his help to defeat the new "musical chairs" game created by the mysterious Omega (television actress Esumi Makiko) and Alice (Japan's sweetheart Ashida Mana).

As revenge for the events at the end of Liar Game - The Final Stage, the Liar Game authorities have created the game's most difficult challenge yet. After much-needed convincing by young college student Shinomiya (Tabe Mikako), former con artist/Liar Game player Akiyama (Matsuda Shota) also agrees to return to play for the two billion yen prize. However, not even Akiyama's experience with the game can prepare him for what game runners Omega (Esumi Makiko) and Alice (Ashida Mana) have in store for the 20 players.

Fuji TV Judge! (2014) (Blu-ray) (First Press Limited Edition)(Japan Version)
S$ 85.00
Are you a fan of zany Japanese commercials? See the world of the people who create them in Judge!, a hilarious comedy about the intensely competitive world of advertising. Tsumabuki Satoshi (Tokyo Family) stars as a low-level director at an ad agency who is sent to pose as his boss as a judge at an international advertising competition in Los Angeles. Directed by award-winning CM director Nagai Akira and written by award-winning CM planner Sawamoto Yoshimitsu (10 Promises to My Dog), Judge! shows no mercy in lampooning both modern advertisements and their creators, depicting the advertising world as a place filled with egotistic figures who are more interested in promoting themselves than the companies they are hired to represent. Judge! also co-stars Kitakawa Keigo (Roommate) as Tsumabuki's partner-in-crime and Suzuki Kyoka (The Kiyosu Conference) as a fellow judge.

After taking the blame for another disastrous advertising campaign, Ota Kiichiro (Tsumabuki Satoshi) is asked by his arrogant boss Otaki Ichiro (Toyokawa Etsushi) to take his place as a judge at the world's biggest advertising competition in Los Angeles. The catch: Kiichiro must make sure that a lambasted ad created by a potential investor's son wins the contest. Carrying a few words of advice from company veteran Kagami (Lili Franky), Kiichiro who doesn't even speak any English goes to Los Angeles with co-worker Hikari (Kitagawa Keiko) in tow. There, Kiichiro discovers a cutthroat world of two-faced friends who are more interested in negotiating secret deals to win votes rather than truly picking the best ad.

Fuji TV Liar Game: The Final Stage (Blu-ray) (Standard Edition) (Japan Version)
S$ 72.10
Based on the comic series by Kaitani Shinobu, the 2007 television drama adaptation of Liar Game was such a surprise hit in its late-night slot that it earned Fuji TV's commitment for both a second series and a theatrical film. Stars Toda Erika (Death Note) and Matsuda Shota (Hana Yori Dango) return as the master players of a never-ending game that pits players in battles of deception with intricate rules and simple consequences: money for the winner, and a mountain of debt for the loser. Along with the stars, series one writer Furuya Osho also returns to join forces with series two writer Kuroiwa Tsutomu and pen the final chapter of the saga. With the mind-twisting game reaching its finale, it's no surprise that The Final Stage is also the game's biggest stage yet.

The Final Stage continues the story from the end of the series two, as college student Nao (Toda Erika) and her brilliant swindler partner Akiyama (Matsuda Shota) enter the final round of mysterious corporation LGT's Liar Game. Dubbed "The Garden of Eden Game", the stakes are higher than ever in the final round, as the prize money has been increased from 100 million yen to 5 billion yen. Like the previous games, the winner takes the money home, and the loser is sent into debt for the same amount. With the mysterious and powerful Player X entering as one of the 11 players in the game, even Akiyama may not be able to help Nao win this time around.

Fuji TV Reunion (Blu-ray)(Japan Version)
S$ 59.30
On March 11, 2011, a powerful earthquake and the tsunami waves that followed killed tens of thousands of people in northeast Japan. Journalist Ishii Kota chronicled his ten days in the town of Kamaishi one of the hardest-hit areas in the disasters in his book Itai Shinsai, Tsunami of Hate ni. Writer-director Kimizuka Ryoichi (the Bayside Shakedown series, Nobody to Watch Over Me) recreates those ten days in Reunion. The film stars Nishida Toshiyuki (Ghost of a Chance, Outrage Beyond) as a retired funeral home employee who brought order to Kamaishi's temporary funeral home and helped families of the victims properly put their loved ones to rest. Proceeds from the film were donated to the recovery effort in the disaster zone.

After the March 11th tsunami virtually wiped away half of Kamaishi, a temporary morgue was set up in a local gym to handle the dead. After the disaster, retired undertaker Chiba Atsushi (Nishida Toshiyuki) volunteered to take charge of the funeral home. Using his years of experience, Atsushi taught rescue workers to handle the bodies with care, arranged for the bodies to be presented in a respectable state to family members and spoke softly to them as he prepared them for their final journey into the crematorium. Soon, rescue workers, city employees and medical professionals working on the site were so touched by Atsushi's dedication to the cause that they eventually come together to lend a helping hand.

Fuji TV Ooku (2006) Standard Edition (Japan Version)
S$ 55.70
Outside the Edo Castle, the men fought for power and glory. Within the castle, the women fought for even more. Fuji TV's luscious period drama Ooku, first aired in 2003, brought viewers deep into the castle to the expansive inner courts housing the wives and concubines of the Tokugawa shogun. Within the veiled corridors of the Ooku, or "Inner Palace", another set of politics and rivalries reigned as the women competed for power, status, and the favor and love of the shogun. The first Ooku was so popular, it spawned two more seasons, and now a feature film.

Ooku (a.k.a. Oh-Oku - The Women of the Inner Palace) marks the film debut for TV director Hayashi Toru, who produced the three Ooku television series. Taking the same successful formula to the big screen, feature film Ooku is set during the reign of child shogun Tokugawa Ietsugu, who assumed rule at four years of age. The film depicts one of the most storied scandals of the inner courts, the power struggle between Ietsugu's concubine mother and the previous shogun's official wife. Starring Nakama Yukie (Shinobi), Nishijima Hidetoshi (Su-ki-da), and Igawa Haruka (Until the Lights Come Back), this grand tale of romance, politics, and treachery comes to the silver screen with extravagant grace, featuring beautiful sets and costumes and biting historical melodrama.

Fuji TV Liar Game: The Final Stage (Blu-ray) (Premium Edition) (Japan Version)
S$ 148.20

Premium Edition Blu-ray comes with an all-cast interview, a making of starring Toda Erika, A real Liar Game featuring 28 female TV hosts, stage event, and trailers.

Fuji TV Norwegian Wood (Complete Edition) (2 Blu-ray + DVD) (Japan Version)
S$ 88.20
After 23 years and millions of copies sold worldwide, Murakami Haruki's landmark novel Norwegian Wood finally hits the big screen with Vietnamese director Tran Anh Hung (Scent of the Green Papaya) at the helm. Working with famed Taiwanese cinematographer Lee Ping Bin (In the Mood For Love) and a top-notch design team, Tran creates a visually gorgeous world for his recreation of Japan during the tumultuous 1960s. The film's award-winning cinematography (2010 Asian Film Awards) and hypnotic score (by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood) serve as integral factors in visualizing Murakami's bittersweet tale about death, unrequited love, and sexual awakening.

Previously thought to be impossible for a cinematic adaptation, Murakami himself offered comments on the script during the pre-production process, making this a rare officially approved adaptation of the author's work. Despite the challenging material, Norwegian Wood managed to attract some of Japan's most talented young actors, including Matsuyama Kenichi (Death Note) as protagonist Watanabe, Kikuchi Rinko (Babel) as the fragile Naoko, and model Mizuhara Kiko as the outgoing Midori in an acclaimed film debut. One of the most anticipated films of 2010, the film was given a high-profile spot in the competition section of the Venice Film Festival.

Japan, late 1960s. After the suicide of his best friend Kizuki (Kora Kengo), Watanabe (Matsuyama Kenichi) goes out to Tokyo to attend university. By chance, he reunites with Kizuki's girlfriend Naoko (Kikuchi Rinko) in the city, bringing their dark past to the present. After spending one night together, Naoko suddenly suffers a mental breakdown and retreats to a hospital deep in the forest of Kyoto. While Watanabe continues to pine for the emotionally unstable mess that is Naoko, he also succumbs to the charm of outgoing classmate Midori (Mizuhara Kiko). Who will Watanabe choose in the end - Naoko the past, or Midori the future?

Complete Edition Blu-ray includes both the theatrical version and the 150-minute extended version of the film. It comes with extended making of documentaries, stage events, deleted scenes, and a collection of promotional materials.

Fuji TV BRAVE HEARTS Umizaru Premium Edition (Blu-ray)(Japan Version)
S$ 136.40
In the post-credit scene of the first Umizaru film, the filmmakers foreshadowed that rescue diver Senzaki and his team of Sea Monkeys will be on a perilous rescue mission involving a jet plane crashing into Tokyo Bay. That scenario becomes the set up for Brave Hearts Umizaru, the fourth film of the blockbuster film series! Star Ito Hideaki once again dons the wet suit as heroic rescuer Senzaki, returning along with Kato Ai as his long-suffering wife Kanna. However, the focus is being shifted to Sato Ryota's longtime sidekick Yoshioka, whose romance with flight attendant Mika (Naka Riisa) forms the emotional core of the film this time around. As they have done throughout the series, director Hasumi Eichiro and screenwriter Fukuda Yasushi have created another gripping, emotional blockbuster that became one of the top-grossing Japanese films in 2012.

Two years have passed since the oil platform accident in The Last Message. Heroic rescue diver Senzaki Daisuke (Ito Hideaki) and longtime teammate Yoshioka (Sato Ryuta) have since transferred to the front line as members of a special rescue unit. While Senzaki and his wife Kanna (Kato Ai) are about to welcome a second child into their happy family, Yoshioka has also found love with flight attendant Mika (Naka Riisa). One day, Mika's Tokyo-bound flight catches mechanical trouble, putting over 300 souls in danger as the pilots attempt an emergency landing on water. Despite the plane landing safely, Senzaki, Yoshioka and their fellow sea monkeys only have 20 minutes to get everyone out before it sinks into water.

Premium Edition includes audio commentary, making of, deleted scenes, stage events collection, outtakes, cast interviews and "Umizaru Graffiti Ultimate", a collection of the best moments from the series. It also comes with a replica of the film's shooting script.

Fuji TV Ninkyo Helper (Blu-ray)(Special Edition)(Japan Version)
    S$ 103.90
In the original Ninkyo Helper television drama, a brutal yakuza thug finds his humanity after working in an elderly care facility under his new boss's orders. The 11-episode drama and the special one-off episode ended with hero Hikoichi looking to leave the crime world behind. Almost two years later, Hikoichi's story continues with Beautiful World, the feature length continuation of the drama. Like the series, the film continues to blend gritty gangster violence with a stinging critique of problems in Japanese society, particularly on its failure to fit the needs of an aging society. With the exception of SMAP's Kusanagi Tsuyoshi returning as Hikoichi and a cameo by original cast member Kuroki Meisa, Beautiful World brings together a new cast that includes Yasuda Narumi (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time), Kaho and Kagawa Teruyuki (Rurouni Kenshin).

After the events of Ninkyo Helper, Hikoichi (Kusanagi Tsuyoshi) has moved on from yakuza life and is trying to start a new life as a clerk in a convenience store. His sympathy for the elderly gets him in trouble when he lets an old man rob the store, causing him to serve time in prison. While there, the old man repays Hikoichi's kindness by telling him to see the Asahina Group if he ever gets into trouble. This new association brings Hikoichi back to the crime life, as he joins the Asahina Group and finds himself working in an elderly care home once again. The rundown home is filled with debt-ridden seniors who use their monthly social welfare money to repay their debts to the gang. However, local politician Teruo (Kagawa Teruyuki) is aiming to wipe out the criminal influence in the elderly care industry.

Based on the Himekawa Series' fourth novel Invisible Rain, the Strawberry Night film sees Himekawa flirting with danger when she falls in love with a gang member during her investigation.

In 2007, Bayside Shakedown director Motohiro Katsuyuki brought Hollywood-style contemporary action to Japanese television screens with the late-night drama SP (Security Police). After the series broke rating records in its time-slot and spawned an even more successful drama special, a film version was underway. Two years later, SP arrives in Japanese cinemas with a spectacular two-part film that reportedly took eight long months to film. Written by novelist Kaneshiro Kazuki (who also wrote the series) and produced by Kameyama Chihiro, SP: The Motion Picture brings back V6's Okada Junichi as the Security Police agent with superhuman senses and Tsutsumi Shinichi as his stern boss. With a bigger budget, SP: The Motion Picture - Yabo Hen immediately ups the ante on the action by opening with an exciting 10-minute chase on the streets of Tokyo, leaving Japanese audiences breathless.

Part one of the film - titled Yabo Hen - opens with Inoue Kaoru (Okada Junichi) using his extraordinary powers to thwart another deadly terrorist attack on a charity event. However, Kaoru's rule-breaking ways also earn him stern warnings from his superiors, including his boss Ogata (Tsutsumi Shunichi). At the same time, an ambitious terrorist plot is being hatched deep within the government by government official Kunio (Kagawa Terayuki), putting Kaoru's team in the line of fire.

Special Edition includes visual commentary with director Hatano Takafumi and star Okada Junichi, making of, stage events, deleted scenes, and a collection of promotional material.

Loosely based on the autobiographical novel by sci-fi writer Mayumura Taku, 1,778 Stories of Me and My Wife is an emotionally touching drama about a man's determination to keep his wife alive. SMAP's Kusanagi Tsuyoshi (Ballad) plays a writer who, at the suggestion of a doctor, keeps his terminally ill wife (Takeuchi Yuko) alive with him by writing one short story a day to make her laugh. Written by Hanzawa Ritsuko (Threads of Destiny) and directed by Hoshi Mamoru (University of Laughs), this adult-oriented pure romance effectively gets the tears flowing while also dazzling the audiences by bringing the imaginative sci-fi short stories to life.

Writer Sakutaro (Kusanagi Tsuyoshi) and his wife Setsuko (Takeuchi Yuko) have been inseparable since high school. When Setsuko starts getting stomach pains, she sees a doctor and is diagnosed with colon cancer. The doctor tells Sakutaro that laughter can help the immune system, prompting him to begin writing one short story a day for Setsuko. Initially only given a year left to live, Setsuko begins to find a will to live because of the stories. Even as the one-year period extends into years, Sakutaro continues writing stories on a daily basis, as long as Setsuko is around to read them.

Collector's Edition comes with a bonus disc with special features.

Get ready to swing! From the makers of Shall We Dance? and Waterboys comes Swing Girls, an inspirational zero-to-hero tale about a group of girls who find their rhythm - and then some! Tomoko (Ueno Juri) leads a group of bored girls stuck in remedial summer math class, who decide to ditch their boring teacher (Takenaka Naoto) to deliver lunches to the school brass band.

But the girls' extreme laziness causes the lunches to spoil, and soon nearly the entire brass band gets sick. The remaining member is Takuo (Hiraoka Yuto), who recruits Tomoko's classmate Sekiguchi (Motokariya Yuika) into the band, even though Sekiguchi's musical talents are entirely in question. But Tomoko and the other girls soon follow, partly to get out of math class, and partly because it's their fault that the entire band got sick in the first place! But there's a catch: nobody knows how to play a wind or brass instrument, much to the dismay of Takuo, who proposes that the girls play swing band jazz - and take their act all the way to a battle-of-the-bands finale! Will the girls find a way to swing like tested jazz musicians, or will they discover that maybe math isn't so bad?

Directed by Yaguchi Shinobu (Waterboys), Swing Girls struck a chord with audiences thanks to its feel-good emotions and energetic cast of young girls, and ranked eighth at the Japanese box office for 2004. Like the characters they play, many of the actors were strangers to their instruments when filming began, and learned to play as filming went on! Full of humor, heart, and more than a little satisfying irreverence, Swing Girls is a toe-tapping, crowd-pleasing good time at the movies!
