Is a family defined by blood or by love? That's the key question in Like Father, Like Son, the latest film from acclaimed auteur Kore-eda Hirokazu. Japanese superstar Fukuyama Masaharu stars as an architect who falls into a parent's nightmare when he is informed that his six-year-old son was actually switched at birth with another couple's son. After Still Walking and I Wish, Kore-eda once again explores the complexities of the familial bond with this engrossing and heartrending drama, portraying a devastating situation with gentle intimacy and a down-to-earth touch. The winner of the Jury Prize at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, Like Father, Like Son also stars Ono Machiko (Climber's High), Maki Yoko (Love Strikes) and Lily Franky (All Around Us). Ryota (Fukuyama Masaharu) thought he had it all: a good job, a lovely wife (Ono Machiko), an expensive home and an adorable six-year-old son to shape in his own image. However, everything comes crashing down when he is informed that his son was switched at birth with another family's child. After getting in touch with the other couple, the down-to-earth Yudai (Lily Franky) and Yukari (Yoko Maki), Ryota is faced with a difficult dilemma: Keep the son that he has spent six years with, or give him up for a stranger that he happens to be related to by blood?

Ayase Haruka (Hotaru no Hikari), Tsutsumi Shinichi (SP) and Okada Masaki (Villain) star as three elite investigators from the government's Board of Audit who discover a long-hidden secret in Osaka that may change the future of Japan forever. Fuji TV Ninkyo Helper (Blu-ray) (Standard Edition)(Japan Version) at 67.30 SGD from YesAsia
Fuji TV Ninkyo Helper (Blu-ray) (Standard Edition)(Japan Version)
S$ 67.30
YesAsia
In the original Ninkyo Helper television drama, a brutal yakuza thug finds his humanity after working in an elderly care facility under his new boss's orders. The 11-episode drama and the special one-off episode ended with hero Hikoichi looking to leave the crime world behind. Almost two years later, Hikoichi's story continues with Beautiful World, the feature length continuation of the drama. Like the series, the film continues to blend gritty gangster violence with a stinging critique of problems in Japanese society, particularly on its failure to fit the needs of an aging society. With the exception of SMAP's Kusanagi Tsuyoshi returning as Hikoichi and a cameo by original cast member Kuroki Meisa, Beautiful World brings together a new cast that includes Yasuda Narumi (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time), Kaho and Kagawa Teruyuki (Rurouni Kenshin). After the events of Ninkyo Helper, Hikoichi (Kusanagi Tsuyoshi) has moved on from yakuza life and is trying to start a new life as a clerk in a convenience store. His sympathy for the elderly gets him in trouble when he lets an old man rob the store, causing him to serve time in prison. While there, the old man repays Hikoichi's kindness by telling him to see the Asahina Group if he ever gets into trouble. This new association brings Hikoichi back to the crime life, as he joins the Asahina Group and finds himself working in an elderly care home once again. The rundown home is filled with debt-ridden seniors who use their monthly social welfare money to repay their debts to the gang. However, local politician Teruo (Kagawa Teruyuki) is aiming to wipe out the criminal influence in the elderly care industry. This edition includes trailers.

Shall We Dance? director Suo Masayuki shows you what it takes to become a maiko in Lady Maiko, a fun big-screen musical that follows the tradition of the filmmaker's lovable underdog comedies Fancy Dance and Sumo Do Sumo Don't. Inspired by My Fair Lady, the film stars talented newcomer Kamishiraishi Mone (chosen from 800 applicants) as a country girl who goes to Kyoto to become a maiko an apprentice geiko like her late mother. Intrigued by the girl's odd rural accent (she was born in the south, then lived in the north), a linguistics professor (Hasegawa Hiroki) bets his friend that he can teach her to speak in proper Kyoto accent within six months. Featuring music written by Suo's regular composer Suo Yoshikazu, Lady Maiko is filled with colorful Broadway-style musical sequences that truly bring the east and west together in one dazzling package. Hey! Say! JUMP member Yamada Ryosuke takes his first film leading role in the live-action adaptation of mega-popular manga Assassination Classroom. Written by Matsui Yusei, Assassination Classroom has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump since 2012 and has sold over 10 million copies. The story begins when a mysterious creature destroys 70% of the moon and threatens to destroy the earth within the year. Strangely, the creature then offers to become the homeroom teacher of Kunugigaoka Junior High School's class 3E, notorious for being the home of the school's least academically-inclined students. In reaction to this, the world's leaders task class 3E with assassinating the creature, offering 10 billion as a reward for whomever succeeds. Yamada plays Shiota Nagisa, a 3E student whose friendly exterior masks a dark and dangerous disposition. Physically unimposing and weak, Shiota nevertheless proves to possess the skills of an assassin. The film also stars veteran Shiina Kippei (The After-Dinner Mysteries) as 3E's P.E. teacher Tadaomi Karasuma, former Kara member Kang Ji Young as an assassin/foreign language teacher, and Suda Masaki (Daily Lives Of High School Boys), Yamamoto Maika (Kamen Teacher: The Movie), Taketomi Seika (Hot Road), Yuki Mio (Kami-sama no Iu Toori) and Uehara Miku (Kimi ni Todoke) as Shiota's fellow students. Odoru Daisousasen was originally a TV drama about life at Wangan Precinct, a suburban neighborhood where its staff treats serving and protecting citizens more like an office job than a righteous calling. Its comedic take on policing and endearing cast of characters (led by Oda Yuji) proved to be a hit with audiences, spawning three highly-rated special one-off episodes and a hit award-winning film. The series has since become a cultural icon, with the film's sequel still holding the record as the highest-grossing live-action Japanese film ever. Intricately plotted by writer Kimizuka Ryuichi and stylishly directed by Motohiro Katsuyuki, Odoru Daisousasen the Movie now arrives on Blu-ray! The Wangan Precinct thinks they already have plenty on their hands when they have to host the enormous investigation of the police vice-commissioner's kidnapping, but that's only the beginning. Resetting the game two years after the end of The Final Stage, the creators have set up a new Liar Game with new rules and the same consequences: a big payday for the winner, and a mountain of debt for the 19 other losers. This time, Matsuda's master schemer character Akiyama is joined by Shinomiya (played by Tabe Mikako, Kimi ni Todoke), who needs his help to defeat the new "musical chairs" game created by the mysterious Omega (television actress Esumi Makiko) and Alice (Japan's sweetheart Ashida Mana). As revenge for the events at the end of Liar Game - The Final Stage, the Liar Game authorities have created the game's most difficult challenge yet. After much-needed convincing by young college student Shinomiya (Tabe Mikako), former con artist/Liar Game player Akiyama (Matsuda Shota) also agrees to return to play for the two billion yen prize. However, not even Akiyama's experience with the game can prepare him for what game runners Omega (Esumi Makiko) and Alice (Ashida Mana) have in store for the 20 players. Are you a fan of zany Japanese commercials? See the world of the people who create them in Judge!, a hilarious comedy about the intensely competitive world of advertising. Tsumabuki Satoshi (Tokyo Family) stars as a low-level director at an ad agency who is sent to pose as his boss as a judge at an international advertising competition in Los Angeles. Directed by award-winning CM director Nagai Akira and written by award-winning CM planner Sawamoto Yoshimitsu (10 Promises to My Dog), Judge! shows no mercy in lampooning both modern advertisements and their creators, depicting the advertising world as a place filled with egotistic figures who are more interested in promoting themselves than the companies they are hired to represent. Judge! also co-stars Kitakawa Keigo (Roommate) as Tsumabuki's partner-in-crime and Suzuki Kyoka (The Kiyosu Conference) as a fellow judge. After taking the blame for another disastrous advertising campaign, Ota Kiichiro (Tsumabuki Satoshi) is asked by his arrogant boss Otaki Ichiro (Toyokawa Etsushi) to take his place as a judge at the world's biggest advertising competition in Los Angeles. The catch: Kiichiro must make sure that a lambasted ad created by a potential investor's son wins the contest. Carrying a few words of advice from company veteran Kagami (Lili Franky), Kiichiro who doesn't even speak any English goes to Los Angeles with co-worker Hikari (Kitagawa Keiko) in tow. There, Kiichiro discovers a cutthroat world of two-faced friends who are more interested in negotiating secret deals to win votes rather than truly picking the best ad. This edition includes audio commentary, cast interviews, making of and trailers. It comes with a booklet.

Bayside Shakedown producer Kameyama Chihiro and Hero director Suzuki Masayuki produce another blockbuster with Princess Toyotomi, a modern conspiracy mystery based on a popular novel by Makime Manabu (Battle League Harumo). Ayase Haruka (Hotaru no Hikari), Tsutsumi Shinichi (SP) and Okada Masaki (Villain) star as three elite investigators from the government's Board of Audit who discover a long-hidden secret in Osaka that may change the future of Japan forever. Filmed with the full support of the Osaka prefectural government, Princess Toyotomi features plenty of Osaka's most famous landscapes and an amazing scene featuring a completely empty city. The mystery at the center of the story has also been so compelling for fans that Princess Toyotomi has been called the Japanese version of Da Vinci Code. Hajime (Tsutsumi Shinichi), Tadako (Ayase Haruka) and Gainsbourg (Okada Masaki) are elite investigators representing the Japanese government's Board of Audit. During an investigation of a historical heritage firm in Osaka's Katahori district, they discover a shocking secret dating back four centuries ago about the possibility of Osaka being an independent country. The discovery of this and the centuries of cover up by Osaka citizens eventually bring life in the prefecture to a halt, putting all of Japan in a potential crisis. Known for his witty scripts, star-studded casts and elaborate setpieces, Mitani Koki heads to space in his latest comedy Galaxy Turnpike. Drawing on his theater roots, the writer-director often concentrates his offbeat story and eccentric characters in a single setting, be it the hotel of Suite Dreams, the courtroom of Once in a Blue Moon or the castle of The Kiyosu Conference. For Galaxy Turnpike, he sets the action entirely in outer space at a burger joint along the space highway. SMAP's Katori Shingo (Bayside Shakedown: The Final) and Ayase Haruka (Our Little Sister) lead the ensemble cast of extraterrestrial characters. In the year 2265, humanity has spread throughout the solar system, and situated next to Jupiter is a space colony called "Uzushio," which is home to a portion of a space highway that links to Earth. Once a buzzing area with numerous eateries, Uzushio's galaxy turnpike has seen business dwindle in recent years. Here in this dusty corner of the universe begins the story of Noa (Katori Shingo) and Noe (Ayase Haruka), the married proprietors of the fast-food restaurant Sandsand Burger.

The world of Asian horror gets a whole lot more terrifying with the hotly anticipated release of Siren, the live action feature film adaptation of the popular Playstation 2 video game! Also known by the alternative title Forbidden Siren, this 2006 survival horror thrill-fest from director Tsutsumi Yukihiko features a plot that coincides with the events of the second game in the Siren series. Set on the remote, rural island of Yamijima just off the coast of the Japan, Siren centers on the plight of a mild-mannered freelance writer (Morimoto Reo), who relocates his family to the film's dark, forbidding location. Along for the trip are his anxious, already grown daughter and his sickly young son, both of whom join dad in a seemingly ancient, suitably creepy Japanese-style house. Not long after settling into their not-so-cozy new home, things take a dramatic turn when a slightly disturbed neighbor shows up at their doorstep to give the family some friendly advice about abiding by the local customs. Above all, the family is warned to never, ever venture outside whenever the island's siren, itself housed within a sinister steel tower, begins to wail. What is the secret of the siren? And what does it all have to do with the powerful group of undead creatures wandering outside in the dark? And most importantly, will the writer's family live to tell the tale? Find out in Siren, a horrifying journey into the unknown, featuring performances from Tanaka Naoki, Abe Hiroshi, Nishida Naomi, Matsuo Suzuki, Shimada Kyusaku, Takahashi Mai, and Nishiyama Jun!

This edition includes making of, stage event collection, cast comments from the commencement of shooting and trailers. It also comes with a set of three postcards.

One of the most important turning points in Japanese political history is now a film from beloved writer-director Mitani Koki! Based on his own novel, The Kiyosu Conference is a humorous account of the meeting convened to decide the fate of the nation after the death of Oda Nobunaga. Mitani depicts the meeting as a battle of wits between two factions inside of the shogunate, and the winner will take rule of an entire nation. Like all Mitani films, The Kiyosu Conference features an all-star cast filled with familiar faces: Yakusho Koji (Suite Dreams), Oizumi Yo (The Detective in the Bar), Sato Koichi (The Magic Hour), Tsumabuki Satoshi (Tokyo Family), Suzuka Kyoka (Flowers), Nakatani Miki (Memories of Matsuko) and Matsuyama Kenichi (Death Note). 1582, Japan. When Oda Nobunaga and his eldest son are forced to take their own lives, his chief retainers including Shibata Katsuie (Yakusho Koji) and Hashiba Hideyoshi (Oizumi Yo) convene at Kiyosu Castle to decide on the fate of the shogunate. The chief retainers immediately split into two factions, with the conservative Shibata pushing for Nobunaga's second son and with the wily, charismatic Hideyoshi pushing for another candidate. What follows is a fierce battle of wits that will go into the history books as Japan's first political summit.

Based on a series of crime novels by Honda Tetsuya, television drama Strawberry Night is a gritty police procedural in which the heroine's journey through the sexist world of crime solving is as compelling as the grisly murder cases. After the successful first season and one-time drama special, the chronicles of the Himekawa Team is now a feature film! Based on the Himekawa Series' fourth novel Invisible Rain, the Strawberry Night film sees Himekawa flirting with danger when she falls in love with a gang member during her investigation. In addition to the original cast members including Takeuchi Yuko, Nishijima Hidetoshi and Koide Keisuke the Strawberry Night film also features Osawa Takao (Shield of Straw) and Miura Tomokazu (Outrage). A gang member has been murdered, and the police has determined that it's the result of a gang dispute. However, the brilliant Detective Himekawa (Takeuchi Yuko) is convinced that there's more to the case and even goes against the rest of the investigation task force to prove her thesis. After a meeting that ended in a deadlock, Himekawa receives an anonymous phone call telling her that a man named Yanai Kento is the killer. During her investigation, Himekawa meets Makita Isao (Osawa Takao), a gang member who also needs to find Yanai. Together, they forge a dangerous collaboration to solve the case. This edition includes the spin-off television short films Strawberry Midnight, making of, stage events collection and trailers. It also comes with a condensed press sheet and a set of photo cards.

Based on the manga by Arakawa Naoshi, the youth romance Your Lie in April stars Yamazaki Kento (Wolf Girl and Black Prince) and Hirose Suzu (Chihayafuru) in a moving story of first love and classical music. Directed by Shinjo Takehiko, whose previous works include I Give My First Love to You, Beyond the Memories and Heavenly Forest, the film gently conveys love, loss and dreams during that unforgettable spring of 17. E-girls member Ishii Anna (Solomon's Perjury) and Nakagawa Taishi (Minami-kun no Koibito: My Little Lover) co-star as the protagonists' friends. As a child, piano prodigy Arima Kosei (Yamazaki Kento) won many competitions under the strict and forceful tutelage of his demanding mother. His exceedingly precise play earned him the nickname of "Human Metronome." After his mother's death, however, Kosei stopped playing because he could no longer hear the sound of the piano. A few years later, 17-year-old Kosei meets violinist Kaori (Hirose Suzu), a bright and innocent girl who plays freely with all her heart and energy. Meeting Kaori opens Kosei's eyes to a new kind of music, different from the cold and emotionless world he once knew. With Kaori's help, Kosei begins to overcome his trauma and find the courage and motivation to play piano again, but Kaori also has a secret of her own. This edition comes with two bonus DVDs of special features including visual commentary, making-of collection, cast self-camera on-site reports, event footage and previews.

It's once more into the fray for Matsuda Shota, who returns to the Liar Game without co-star Toda Erika for the first time in Liar Game - Reborn, the second film based on Kaitani Shinobu's popular manga. This edition includes the spin-off dramas Alice in Liar Game and Fukunaga VS Yokoya, as well as making of, stage events, and trailers.
