About the Brand: Pampers

A chemical engineer by profession, Victor Mills was working for Procter & Gamble in the US. Also honoured with the title Father of Disposable diapers, Grandpa Vic as many called him as so revolutionized child care with his invention of the disposable diaper, a project he began work on in the 1950s using his grandchildren as his test subjects. Pampers Diapers is the world's first widely marketed disposable diaper and currently P&G's biggest brand by sales revenue. Mills has also contributed in several production improvements like the Ivory soap and Duncan Hines cake mix, as well as the production concept for Pringles Potato Chips.

Pampers disposable diapers were easier to wear and clean up as compared to traditional nappies, so it took the market awhile at first to get to know the product. But once more and more mothers use them, Pampers were sold all over in department stores, supermarkets, drug stores, convenience stores and since these were the first of its kind, Pampers were placed at the food aisle, the paper product section and even the drug section. Retailers just couldn’t pin-point on where to place these hot-selling Pampers.

Moving into the 1970s, Pampers replaced the diaper pin with tape so that parents could take a quick peek into the diaper, also saving their fingers from any unwanted accidents. Pampers introduced its value pack to the market and launched its first thin diaper made from absorbent gelling material, elastic leg gathers, tabs that could be refastened and a softer liner.

Pampers is setting high standards for the diaper making industry, Pampers diapers that can breathe, Premium and Baby-Dry diapers that have a protective lotion layer to keep the small bottom of your LO (little one) smooth, soft and comfortable at all times.

Pampers Singapore: What Makes A Pampers Diaper?

All mothers know that the most important thing about a diaper is its function to keep babies dry and comfortable. But how are diapers made and what materials are used to make this daily essential so reliable?

Pampers diapers and pants are made from soft, breathable materials that move with your baby as he/she plays and sleeps each day. Like most modern disposable diapers, Pampers has a layered construction, which allows the transfer and distribution of liquid away from the baby to an absorbent core, where the liquid is locked away to help keep your baby comfortable and dry.

This is how Pampers Diapers actually work:

  1. A baby’s urine first channels through a protective liner, also known as a top sheet. Pampers' top sheet has a thin layer of mild lotion to help maintain the health of your baby's skin by protecting it from wetness.
  2. Then, the urine passes through the absorption layer, which is made from cloth-like polyester fibres that are both soft and effective at absorbing liquid and keeping urine away from your baby’s skin.
  3. Next, the distribution layer comes into work and captures the urine flow then transfers it to the absorbent core, which is the storage layer of the diaper. In the core, the super-absorbent gel absorbs the liquid and locks it away, it can retain up to 30 times its weight in liquid.
  4. Finally, the outer cover of the diaper, also known as the back sheet performs as a breathable film topped with soft cloth-like fibres to help prevent wetness from transferring to the bed or clothes.

The diaper evolution over the years has resulted in the creation of the super-absorbent gel that has helped millions of parents to better care for their children. This has also resulted in less severity of diaper rash and help in improving comfort and keeping more babies skin healthier. Pampers diapers’ gel is also non-toxic and will not harm your LO. So if the small beans of gel from the diaper do transfer onto the baby’s skin or bedding, just gently wipe it away.

This super-absorbent gel material has been tested in more than 400 consumer safety tests through a conducive study in every way a person could come in contact with it — through skin contact or accidental ingestion by babies or pets. And each study has consistently demonstrated the safety of this material. So, parents can rest assured with the materials used to make Pampers diapers.

How to Pick the Right Pampers Diaper for Your LO?

Size is a huge part of finding the right diaper fit for your baby, babies come in all different shapes and sizes and just like clothing, diapers fit every baby differently. Pampers has measured thousands of babies' legs, bottoms and waists and tries to ensure its range of diapers and sizes provide a good fit.

Organized by weight, Pampers chose to design its diapers range according to so because since no two babies are the same shape, the baby’s weight would be a better measuring comparison. Therefore, customers will notice some overlap between sizes. However, in most cases, the baby’s diaper size should be within the weight range. When a diaper fits well, it should appear straight and equally proportioned on your baby and with a comfortable snug below the belly button.

Pampers Diaper tapes should also be fastened symmetrically on the coloured waistband on the front of the diaper. As Pampers diapers have flexible sides that adapt to the baby’s shape and movement, carers can create a customized fit. It is not hard in finding the right size for your LO, it just takes a bit extra care and knowledge.

Besides diapers, there are also a variety of high-quality strollers & carriers to help parents care for your children and a wide range of baby products too. Do check them out at iPrice Singapore!
