Korean fashion have been taking a foothold in the fashion industry but this isn’t surprising to say the least. In fact, it would have been anticipated to make an impact on our lives. With the K-Wave fandom increasing at a near alarming rate over the years, it was only a matter of time before the Korean lifestyle influence reaches our shores. Lifestyle influence here takes a nod at Korean makeup and fashion but this piece will be all about fashion. SPAO is a clothing brand that focusses on casual wear for both men and women. Owned by South Korean conglomerate, E-Land, SPAO shops are littered all over Seoul but it is now available online in Singapore!
The K-Wave started increasing in global popularity since the 1990s but it wasn’t until the 2000s that it really took the world by storm. Initially, the K-Wave took off with K-dramas and K-pop across Asia; you get the screaming fan-girls who enthusiastically follow news and updates on their favourite idol. The boys weren’t too far behind with the many girl idol groups to keep tabs on. Some of the most noted K-Wave successes were dramas like Winter Sonata and Boys over Flowers, reality shows like Running Man and K-pop groups like Big Bang and Girls Generation. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the public has taken an increased biased towards the Korean lifestyle. Korean food eateries have been popping up more frequently across Singapore, makeup brands like Etude House and Innisfree were opening in main shopping malls and on main streets and now, SPAO Singapore has followed suit!
EXO is divided into two subgroups, Exo-K who promotes music in Korea and Exo-M who focusses on China. Both Exo-K and Exo-M debuted on the 8th of April 2012 with their single Mama. Wildly successful, both the mandarin and the Korean version of Mama topped multiple charts both locally and internationally. EXO even seemed unstoppable when they bag the newcomer award at both the 2012 Mnet Asian Music Awards and the 27th Golden Disk Awards.
EXO’s widespread fame was what landed them so many endorsements – from Baskin Robbins to Lotte World, they were hugely in demand. Then came along the collaboration between SPAO and EXO. To begin, EXO along with AOA were the spokesperson of the brand; with their faces plastered and advertised throughout the entire store. The collaboration was well received which was what led to the design and release of EXO members’ t-shirts in 2016. Available in white and black in Singapore, the t-shirts only vary in terms of the printed design on them. One of the more notable ones is where the name of the EXO member is printed on the front with their birthdate and horoscope plastered on the back.
Now that the shirts are available in SPAO Singapore, don’t hesitate anymore! Choose your design and colour of your favourite EXO member’s SPAO t-shirt and hit on the purchase button!
