The K-Wave started increasing in global popularity since the 1990s but it wasn’t until the 2000s that it really took the world by storm. Initially, the K-Wave took off with K-dramas and K-pop across Asia; you get the screaming fan-girls who enthusiastically follow news and updates on their favourite idol. The boys weren’t too far behind with the many girl idol groups to keep tabs on. Some of the most noted K-Wave successes were dramas like Winter Sonata and Boys over Flowers, reality shows like Running Man and K-pop groups like Big Bang and Girls Generation. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the public has taken an increased biased towards the Korean lifestyle. Korean food eateries have been popping up more frequently across Singapore, makeup brands like Etude House and Innisfree were opening in main shopping malls and on main streets and now, SPAO Singapore has followed suit!
