Design

The P20 Pro featured a variety of colour-shifting backings when light was projected onto the glass surface. Aside from its aesthetics, the well-placed corners of the phone made it very comfortable to grip. Albeit being a thoughtfully designed phone, the main issue of the Huawei P20 Pro was its protruding camera.

Compared to its predecessor, the P30 Pro has a more refined design. The rectangular notch on the P20 Pro has now been replaced with a clean and delicate teardrop notch. On top of that, the home button has been removed to make space for a bigger screen that also houses the under-screen fingerprint scanner, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S10’s ultrasonic one.

Camera

Huawei phones have always been known for their best in class cameras, thanks to their partnership with Leica in 2014. Comprised of a 40-megapixel RGB sensor, 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and an additional 8-megapixel 3x optical zoom sensor, the camera on the P20 Pro is rather superior.

Although the P20 Pro’s camera is impressive, but it is not as impressive as the quad rear camera system on the P30 Pro. It features a 40-megapixel main sensor, a 20-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, an 8-megapixel zoom sensor, and a Time of Flight sensor that determines depth information. Additionally, you can enjoy its all-round improved lenses as well as zooming capabilities.

Price

The launching price of the Huawei P20 Pro in Singapore is priced at S$1,148, while the Huawei P30 Pro’s starting price is S$1,698. It will be publicly launched on the 6th of April, 2019 at Vivo City Mall.

Verdict

Whether if you choose to upgrade your smartphone, it is up to your wants and needs as every consumer is different. So, should you upgrade your P20 Pro for the P30 Pro? Yes, if you’re willing to foot out the extra S$550 in exchange for a far more superior smartphone.
