Executive produced by Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman, The Pacific is an epic ten-part miniseries from HBO and the team that made Band of Brothers. The Pacific tracks the intertwined real-life stories of three U.S Marines, Robert Leckie, John Basilone and Eugene Sledge across the vast canvas of the Pacific Theater during World War 2. The miniseries follows these men and their fellow Marines from their first battle with the Japanese on Guadalcanal, through the rain forests of Cape Gloucester and the strongholds of Peleliu, across the bloody sands of Iwo Jima and through the horror of Okinawa, and finally to their triumphant but uneasy return home after V-J Day. The Pacific is primarily based on two memoirs of US Marines, Eugene Sledge's With The Old Breed: At Peleliu And Okinawa and Robert Leckie's Helmet For My Pillow. The series also draws on Eugene Sledge's China Marine and Chuck Tatum's Red Blood, Black Sand, as well as original interviews conducted by the filmmakers. Give yourself double the fun with this Batman Begins / The Dark Knight double pack. Batman Begins Genius of mystery and intrigue Christopher Nolan (Memento) helms this prequel to the Batman films based on the DC Comics series, explaining how Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) the billionaire prince of Gotham whose parents were killed in an alleyway mugging transformed into the crime-fighting superhero. With flashbacks to his privileged childhood, young Master Wayne, as he is called by the butler Alfred (Michael Caine), develops a terrible fear of bats when he falls through the backyard garden into a hidden cave. As a young adult, Wayne lives among the League of Shadows, a martial arts group in the mountains of Asia. His leaders Ra's al Ghul (Ken Watanabe) and Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson) teach him strength, endurance, and unfortunately evil, against which he naturally rebels. Returning to Gotham and reinstating himself as a dapper socialite and the rightful heir to his parents' enterprise, Wayne quickly devises his secret identity, commanding help from the gadgetry expert Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman). With one eye on his childhood playmate Rachel (Katie Holmes) now a beautiful woman and dedicated lawyer and the other on his mission to save Gotham from criminal corruption, Batman makes his fledgling debut. But when the blue-blooded mastermind Dr. Crane (Cillian Murphy) who steals every scene with chilling menace taints the water system with a hallucinatory substance, Batman realises he has met his first true opponent. An attitude of grave seriousness elevates Batman Begins above more cartoony Batman movies, as Nolan crafts a dark drama that thrives on sci-fi intrigue. Bale strides into the role with grace, adding refinement that is seldom seen in action-oriented films. And while the action scenes explode with high-tech glitz and fast-moving thrills, they are evenly placed among sequences of plot and character development, making for a complex and satisfying viewing experience. The Dark Knight Director Christopher Nolan (The Prestige) returns to Gotham City with this sequel to the critically-acclaimed fan favourite, Batman Begins. In The Dark Knight, Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman, The Fifth Element) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart, No Reservations), Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organisations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal psychotic mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as the Joker (Heath Ledger, Brokeback Mountain). What ensues will blow your mind away. From its release on the big screen The Dark Knight has fast become one of the biggest grossing films world-wide. Actors Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Eric Roberts, Anthony Michael Hall, Nestor Carbonell, Melinda McGraw, Nathan Gamble & Michael Jai White Director Christopher Nolan Certificate 12 years and over Year 2005 ; 2008 Screen Widescreen 2.35:1 Languages English - Dolby TrueHD (5.1)

Released in 1987, Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise is the first feature-length film from studio Gainax and one of the most classic titles in Japanese animation. Directed by Yamaga Hiroyuki, the film is set in an alternate world, similar to our mid-20th century, in which the nations are locked in a cold war. The story follows the complicated coming-of-age journey of a would-be astronaut amidst a multicultural landscape of disillusioned citizens, tangled politics, and constant threats of war. With beautifully detailed animation, an evocative score, and a story both harrowing and inspiring, this anime classic is as relevant and haunting today as it was two decades ago. With his grades not good enough for the navy, aimless youth Shiro Lhadatt ends up joining the Royal Space Force. Underfunded and overlooked, the RSF is a ragtag dumping ground for unmotivated young recruits and graying engineers who have been trying for years to build a rocket. Their goal is to launch a man into space, but progress has been slow. Like just about everyone else, Shiro doesn't think too much of the RSF, but he begins to change his mind after meeting Leiqunni Nondelaiko, a strongly religious young woman who inspires Shiro to have greater faith and determination. Finally coming together as a team, the RSF move closer and closer to their goal, just as their nation moves closer and closer to war.

After a breakout performance in Queen Seon Duk, Kim Nam Gil takes the leading role in the SBS drama Bad Guy. Kim Nam Gil oozes charisma as the brooding anti-hero plotting his revenge on the chaebol that destroyed his life and family, though Coffee Prince's "Waffle Guy" Kim Jae Wook gives him a run for his money in the tortured soul department as the rebellious black sheep, who has all the money in the world but can't come to terms with his family or himself. Bad Guy co-stars the beautiful trio of Han Ga In (Super Rookie), Oh Yeon Soo (The Queen Returns), and Jung So Min (Playful Kiss) who get unwittingly pulled into the painful revenge cycle. In one night, Gun Wook (Kim Nam Gil) lost everything because of the Hong family. They took him in, believing he was Hong's illegitimate son Tae Sung, and then cast him aside into the streets when it turned out to be a mistake. Years later, Gun Wook returns for revenge, taking down the Hongs and their Haeshin corporation step by step. The real Hong Tae Sung (Kim Jae Wook) and sisters Mo Ne (Jung So Min) and Tae Ra (Oh Yeon Soo) are all chess pieces in his impeccable revenge plan, but he never planned on meeting and falling in love with Jae In (Han Ga In).

Please note this is a region B Blu-ray and will require a region B or region free Blu-ray player in order to play. One of the great late period films by Sacha Guitry - the total auteur who delighted (and scandalised) the French public and inspired the French New Wave as a model for authorship as director-writer-star of screen and stage alike. In every one of his pictures (and almost every one served as a rueful examination of the war between the sexes), Guitry sculpted by way of a rapier wit - one might say by way of "the Guitry touch" - some of the most sophisticated black comedies ever conceived... and La Poison [Poison] is one of his blackest. Michel Simon plays Paul Braconnier, a man with designs on murdering his wife Blandine (Germaine Reuver) - a woman with similar designs on her husband. When Braconnier visits Paris to consult with a lawyer about the perfect way of killing a spouse - that is, the way in which he can get away with it - an acid comedy unfolds that reaches its peak in a courtroom scene for the ages. From the moment of Guitry's trademark introduction of his principals in the opening credits, and on through the brilliant performance by national treasure Michel Simon (of Renoir's Boudu sauvé des eaux and Vigo's L'Atalante; to mention only two high-water marks), here is fitting indication of why Guitry is considered by many the Gallic equal of Ernst Lubitsch. The Masters of Cinema Series is proud to introduce Sacha Guitry into the catalogue with La Poison for the first time on video in the UK in a dazzling new Gaumont restoration. Actors Michel Simon, Jean Debucourt, Jacques Varennes, Jeanne Fusier-Gir, Germaine Reuver, Pauline Carton, Albert Duvaleix, Henry Laverne, Jacques de Féraudy; Jacques Derives, Louis de Funès; Luce Fabiole, Yvonne Hébert & Roger Poirier Director Sacha Guitry Certificate 12 years and over Year 1951 Screen Fullscreen 1.33:1 Languages French Subtitles English Closed Captions Yes Duration 1 hour and 25 minutes (approx)

His cousin, psychiatrist Li Shi Hui (Cherrie Ying), believes that Tian Xin will be able to recover soon. However, when she returns to work, she suddenly experiences a splitting headache and hallucinations, and begins to attack her boss. While getting examined at Shi Hui's hospital, Tian Xin demonstrates an uncanny ability to calm down an out-of-control patient. Synopsis: Made barely a year after Claude Chabrol's debut Le Beau Serge, Les Cousins featured the earlier film's same starring pair of Jean - Claude Brialy and G érard Blain, here reversing the good - guy/bad - guy roles of the previous picture. The result is a simmering, venomous study in human temperament that not only won the Golden Bear at the 1959 Berlin Film Festival, but also drew audiences in droves, and effectively launched Chabrol's incredible fifty - year - long career. In Les Cousins, Blain's character journeys from the country to Paris to crash at the luxurious flat of his worldly and decadent cousin, portrayed by Brialy, during the study period for an upcoming law exam which both have set out to undertake. It becomes clear soon enough that only one of the cousins is terribly committed to his work; as sexual promises and alcohol intervene, the set - up becomes untenable for the provincial, - and a tragic slide ensues. A gripping and urbane examination of city and country, ambition and ease, Les Cousins continues to captivate and shock audiences with its brilliant scenario, the performances of Brialy and Blain, and the assuredness of Chabrol's precocious directorial hand. The Masters of Cinema Series is proud to present Claude Chabrol's breakthrough film in a beautiful new Gaumont restoration on Blu - ray and DVD for the first time in the UK. Special BLU - RAY Edition: Gorgeous new Gaumont restoration of the film in its original aspect ratio, presented in 1080p HD on the Blu - ray New and improved English subtitles Original theatrical trailer A 47 - minute documentary about the making of the film L ' Homme qui vendit la Tour Eiffel [ The Man Who Sold the Eiffel Tower] , Chabrol's 1964 short film A lengthy booklet with a new and exclusive essay by critic Emmanuel Burdeau; a new and exclusive translation of a rare text about actress Françoise Vatel provided for this release by its author, the filmmaker and critic Luc Moullet; excerpts of interviews and writing by Chabrol; and more.

Set in Middle-Earth 60 years before events in 'The Lord of the Rings'; 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' (2012) follows the adventures of Hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who, at the instigation of the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen), suddenly finds himself co-opted into joining a company of 13 Dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) to help reclaim the Dwarves' lost kingdom of the Lonely Mountain from the clutches of a dragon. After setting out on their quest from the safety of Bag End, the band of travellers soon find themselves pitted against a range of strange and fearsome opponents, in addition to a small, slimy creature known simply as Gollum (Andy Serkis). In 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' (2013), while Gandalf heads south on his own, Bilbo, Thorin and the Dwarves enter the treacherous Mirkwood Forest on their way to the mountain. When they reach Lake-town Bilbo has to perform the role he was assigned at the start of the quest - to find a secret door that will lead him to the lair of Smaug the dragon (voice of Benedict Cumberbatch). In the final instalment, 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' (2014), Bilbo, Thorin and the other Dwarves have unintentionally released Smaug from the Lonely Mountain and endangered the residents of Lake-town. Bilbo has to make a difficult decision when Thorin puts his desire to find the royal jewel Arkenstone before his loyalty to his friends. Meanwhile, Gandalf discovers that the evil Sauron has returned, commanding a horde of Orcs to attack the Lonely Mountain. Bilbo and his friends must fight for their survival as five armies meet in battle. The rest of the cast includes Luke Evans, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly and Christopher Lee.

Electronic|TV & Video|Blu-ray media | Technology Essentials

Blu-ray is using blue-violet laser technology.

Blu-ray Media established in 2006. It’s the only media that offers a high-definition and visual disc in 2008. Blu-ray Media has been accepted by the consumers, thanks to high-quality files saving. Moreover, Blu-ray media have become more popular because they offer large storage capacity and consumer finds that the disc storage of Blu-ray allows them to back-up their files effortlessness.

Blu-ray media | 3 types of format

  • Blu-ray Recordable Disc (BD-R) – is a one-time use only, which makes them perfect for publishing protected project or files, and with the capacity store up to 25 GB data file.
  • Blu-ray Dual-layer recordable (BD-R DL) – have a storage capacity of 50 GB and the discs can support up to 1080 pixels-r videos and can save and read all types of file format.
  • Blu-ray Rewritable Disc (BD-RE) - can use up to hundred times, storage capacity up to 25 GB, and read video file with high-quality and can save the different type of audio or file formats.

The consumer must think carefully about how they will use their Blu-ray media disc before deciding whether they should buy BD-R or BD-RE.

Know more about Blu-ray media

Blu-ray media discs are a better choice if you need to protect data against computer viruses and hackers and on the off chance that your security boundaries are hacked or destroyed, you will even now have the capacity to recover the information from Blu-ray media disc.

The advantage is that Blu-Ray media disc holds around five times the amount of data as DVDs, which in turn hold about five times the information of CDs. The data file can be stored on less and that implies easier and less storage.

So how would I know which Blu-Ray media to use?

  • Blu-ray media are the rational choice for backing up HD video and audio files. BD-R discs are excellent for recording HD movies or music.
  • But, if your video or music files are huge, BD-R DL or BD-R XL discs offer greater storage capacity.
  • And if regularly, your added music or update the TV series collection, consider BD-R RE discs, which allow you to add or re-write the same disc up to several times.

Blu-ray technology

Blu-ray media is the perfect solution for long-term storage of important data files.

And Blu-ray is distributed by more than 200 companies of the world's leading consumer electronics, computer, TV and video game and recording media. And very affordable rate, compared to other data storage brand.
