Well Go USA, Inc. Brothers Five (Blu-ray) (US Version)
S$ 28.30
Cheng Pei Pei is known to many Chinese movie fans as the villainous Jade Fox in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon directed by Ang Lee. More avid fans probably also recognize her as the Golden Swallow in King Hu's canonized Come Drink with Me made in 1966, after which Cheng Pei Pei starred as various persistent and pretty martial arts experts in Shaw Brother films. In Brothers Five, she stars as a martial expert who sets out to find the five sons of her late father's best friend. She needs to inform them, separated from each other ever since their family members were murdered, about the real villain behind their family's tragedy. She also needs to return to them a martial arts manual which has been under her custody for years, so that the five brothers can take revenge on the evil but powerful murderer.

After making Brothers Five in 1970, director Lo Wei later earned greater reputation by directing Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury. Nieh Kuang, Hong Kong's most famous sci-fi writer, wrote the script for this wonderful piece.

Well Go USA, Inc. Tai Chi Zero (2012) (Blu-ray) (US Version) at 29.98 USD from YesAsia
Well Go USA, Inc. Tai Chi Zero (2012) (Blu-ray) (US Version)
S$ 42.50
Tai Chi presents a new breed of Chinese kung fu movies like you've never seen it before! Producer Chen Kuo Fu (Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame) and director Stephen Fung (House of Fury) audaciously attempt to rejuvenate period kung fu films by fusing the gist of the genre with elements of comic book, video game and even Victorian steampunk. Envisioned as a big-budget trilogy, Tai Chi tells the classical story of a martial arts master's journey from zero to hero, and its first two installments neatly named Tai Chi 0 and Tai Chi Hero, respectively were produced and subsequently released back-to-back in 3D.

Starring Tony Leung Ka Fai, Eddie Peng, Angelababy and William Feng, Tai Chi 0 introduces newcomer Yuan Xiaochao (formerly an Olympic gold medal-winning wushu athlete) as the male lead, with special appearances by Shu Qi, Daniel Wu and many other star cameos to round out the stellar cast. Behind the camera, the innovative hybrid kung fu comedy boasts over-the-top fight scenes choreographed by legendary action director Sammo Hung as well as stylish production design from Oscar-winning art director Timmy Yip, both of whom earned Golden Horse Awards nominations for their groundbreaking works here.

Set in the chaotic early-19th century China, Tai Chi 0 follows martial arts prodigy Yang Luchan (Yuan Xiaochao), a goofy young man born with a special gift that, when triggered, turns him temporarily into an invincible fighter. Unfortunately, that untamed superpower is lethal for Luchan, and to save his life, he is advised to go to the Chen village to learn their school of tai chi. However, the villagers are forbidden to teach their kung fu to outsiders, and the hapless boy learns it the hard way when he tries to force his way in. Meanwhile, the eccentric village head Master Chen Changxing (Tony Leung Ka Fai) learns that their village is targeted for demolition in order to make way for the railway. He realizes that the key to defeating TROY No.1 the massive mechanical monster manned by the malevolent railway engineer Fang Zijing (Eddie Peng) lies in his daughter Yuliang (Angelababy) and Luchan...

Well Go USA, Inc. Ip Man (Blu-ray) (US Version) at 32.98 USD from YesAsia
Well Go USA, Inc. Ip Man (Blu-ray) (US Version)
S$ 46.80
Collaborating with director Wilson Yip for the fourth time, action star Donnie Yen takes the leading role in a momentous biopic of martial arts legend Ip Man, the Wing Chun grandmaster whose many students included Bruce Lee. Set in 1930s and 40s China during the Sino-Japanese War, Ip Man follows in the spirit of blockbuster period actioners like Fearless and Once Upon a Time in China with a rousing bout of folk hero patriotism and a breathtaking display of martial arts. Endorsed by Ip Man's son who served as a consultant for the film, Ip Man takes some liberties with history, but cuts no corners when it comes to the intense action scenes choreographed by Sammo Hung. Donnie Yen delivers perhaps the best acting performance of his career, along with his usual jaw-dropping martial arts machismo. Ip Man co-stars Simon Yam (Fatal Move), Gordon Lam (Sparrow), Wong Yau Nam (AV), martial artists Fan Siu Wong (The Moss) and Xing Yu (Kung Fu Hustle), and Japanese actor and judo black-belt holder Ikeuchi Hiroyuki (Karaoke Terror) as Yen's main rival.

Ip Man opens in 1930s Foshan, a town steeped in kung fu heritage and lined with an abundance of martial arts schools. The undisputed toast of Foshan though is Ip Man (Donnie Yen), known not only for his superb martial arts, but also for his great humility and integrity. Content with his wealthy, low-key life with his wife (Lynn Xiong Dai Ling) and son, Ip Man refuses to take disciples, though he is at times forced to give sound beatings to rash challengers. Everything changes, however, when war hits. There's no more time for martial arts as Ip Man works hard to support his family through this time of poverty and oppression. But he can stay silent no longer when a Japanese general (Ikeuchi Hiroyuki) begins challenging Chinese martial artists to fatal duels.

The Collector's Edition of Ip Man comes with over two hours of special features including making-of, cast and crew interviews, trailers, TV spots, deleted scenes, on-set featurettes, and gala screening footage.

One spark can start a fire that changes everything. For modern China, that spark was the Xinhai Revolution. 2011 marks the 100th anniversary of this important turning point in contemporary Chinese history, and Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan is commemorating the milestone by making 1911 the 100th film of his career. In addition to starring in the film as Huang Xing, the man who led forces on the battlefield during the revolution, Chan also acts as the chief director of this big-budget historical epic. Covering the events of 1911 - including the Huanghuagang Uprising, Sun Yat-sen's attempts to raise support for the revolution, and the political chaos following the revolution - 1911 is one of Chan's biggest and most important films.

In addition to the action superstar in a rare dramatic role, 1911 also co-stars Winston Chao (Road to Dawn) as Sun Yat-sen, Li Bing Bing (Detective Dee), Jiang Wu (Let the Bullets Fly), Joan Chen, Hu Ge, and Jaycee Chan. One of the most anticipated films of 2011, 1911 was one of the opening films at the 2011 Tokyo International Film Festival.

In late 1910, Sun Yat-sen and his Tongmenghui brethren - including Huang Xing (Jackie Chan) - meet in Malaysia to prepare for the Huanghuagang Uprising in Guangzhou. Even though the uprising, which involves an attack on the governor's office, ends in failure, other uprisings begin to follow, troubling the Empress Dowager (Joan Chen). To prevent the Qing court from stopping the revolution, Sun Yat-sen travels to Europe to stop banks from lending money to the Qing government. Meanwhile, Huang Xing continues to fight on the battlefields, facing death everyday...

Tsui Hark (Detective Dee And The Mystery Of The Phantom Flame) reinterprets Qu Bo's 1957 novel Tracks in the Snowy Forest, which was memorably adapted into an opera during the Cultural Revolution, into a roaring action blockbuster in The Taking of Tiger Mountain! Starring Zhang Hanyu (White Vengeance), Lin Gengxin (Black & White: The Dawn Of Justice), Tony Leung Ka Fai (Rise Of The Legend), Tong Liya (Silent Witness), Yu Nan (No Man's Land), Han Geng (So Young) and others, the epic film was a box office smash, and yet another testament to Tsui Hark's ability to put on a cinematic spectacle.

In the midst of the Chinese Civil War, People's Liberation Army Captain Shao Jianbo (Lin Gengxin) is assigned a daunting mission: to retake Tiger Mountain. Once a Japanese stronghold, the mountain is now dominated by a group of vicious bandits led by the fearsome Hawk (Tony Leung Ka Fai). Well Go USA, Inc. Assault Girls (Blu-ray) (US Version)
S$ 38.30
Ghost in the Shell director Oshii Mamoru takes on live-action for the first time in eight years with the sci-fi action film Assault Girls. A continuation of his shorts in the omnibus films Kill and Shin Onna Tachiguishi Retsuden, Assault Girls stars hot young actresses Kikuchi Rinko (Babel), Saeki Hinako (Trick), and Kuroki Meisa (Crows Zero) as three butt-kicking warriors in a post-apocalyptic future. Fans of the director will immediately recognize his traits: deliberate pacing, cerebral storytelling, and a haunting score by Kawai Kenji. Similar to Miike Takashi's Sukiyaki Western Django, Oshii decided to shoot most of Assault Girls in English - a major challenge to his stars (and possibly to his viewers).

In a virtual world called Avalon, four warriors - Gray (Kuroki Meisa), Colonel (Saeki Hinako), Lucifer (Kikuchi Rinko), and Jager (Fujiku Yoshikatsu) - band together to fight a giant sand monster destroying the world. They discover that there's only room for one survivor in their world, and they must play by the rules.

On June 29, 2002, while all of South Korea was swept up in World Cup fever, gunfire was being exchanged at the Northern Limit Line, the de facto maritime boundary between North and South Korea in the Yellow Sea.
